CAS guidelines for faculty fellowships
From Renee Baernstein, the College has developed new guidelines for externally-funded faculty fellowships. such as Fulbright Commission, Ford Foundation, etc. The guidelines can be found on the CAS faculty Canvas site, and apply for any applications submitted after April 1. Note this does not apply to typical research grants, but rather for fellowships that require semester-long teaching absences and do not generate overhead. Please direct any questions to Renee.
APA video competition

It has never been more important to communicate the rigor and impact of psychological science to the public. APA is calling on you to rise to the challenge. Don’t miss this opportunity to share psychological science with the world!
Make a brief — two-minutes or less — video that creatively and accurately explains a concept or finding from psychological science. In April, up to 10 jury prize winners and one audience favorite will be chosen to each receive a prize of $1,000.
Winning videos will be featured on the PsycShorts contest website and will be screened later this summer at APA headquarters in Washington, D.C. and during the APA convention in Chicago.

Fulbright student program

Global Initiatives is currently recruiting Miami’s cohort of applicants for the 2020-2021 Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright U.S. Student Program supports approximately 2,000 U.S. students to engage in study, research, or English teaching assistantships abroad annually.
Academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to increasing intercultural understanding between the Americans and citizens of other countries are qualities the Fulbright program seeks in applicants.
Nominations by faculty members can be a powerful source of motivation for students. Are there students in your departments or programs that you think would be interested in learning more about Fulbright? If so, please Nominate a Student and we will reach out with an invitation to attend one of the spring information sessions.
Student travel award due March 15
The Council on Undergraduate Research Psychology Division offers a travel award up to $200 for students traveling to present at conferences. Students in your labs are eligible as Miami is an institutional member of CUR. Direct any questions to me or the ORU.

As Vaishali has announced, Miami social Ph.D. alum Matt Groebe will be hosting focus groups in his current industry position on March 5 & 6. You might direct students to this opportunity; Matt writes:
