Clinical program reaccredited by APA until 2031!

Following a successful review process (including extensive documentation, a virtual April site visit, and responses to follow-up queries), we are pleased to announce that our doctoral program in Clinical Psychology was reaccredited by the American Psychology Association until 2031. Having a 10-year accreditation outcome is an outstanding achievement, reflecting the hard work of the faculty, staff, and students of our clinical program, especially Director of Clinical Training Aaron Luebbe. We are so pleased about this well-deserved outcome and very proud of the clinical program and the hard work required to make this accreditation process so successful! Thanks to Aaron and everyone involved!

Allen McConnell co-I on newly awarded NICHD grant

Congratulations goes to Allen McConnell and his colleagues at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center who received word that their NICHD R01 grant ($1.68M) was funded. The five-year project, entitled “Using dogs to promote therapeutic engagement during inpatient rehabilitation following pediatric acquired brain injury: Understanding mechanisms and moderators of treatment response,” will assess the value of therapy dogs used with children recovering from traumatic brain injuries. The team recently wrapped up work on their R21 project, which provided initial feasibility evidence for the approach. The new project will run through June 2026. Congrats to Allen and the entire team!

Vaishali Raval receives US Dept. of Education grant

Congratulations goes to Vaishali Raval, who was recently awarded $100K from the United States Department of Education to support her project entitled, “Enhancing cultural competence and integrating international perspectives in the redesign of Global Miami Plan courses through explorations of diverse subcultures of India.” The project will run from July 2021 through July 2023, and it will provide global immersion experiences to 12 educators from Miami Univ. who teach global perspectives courses in the Global Miami Plan. Congrats to our Dean’s Scholars and to their academic advisors!

Congrats to Kelechi Uzoegwu for receiving P.E.O. Scholarship

Congratulations go to Kelechi Uzoegwu, who was recently recognized with a P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship for the AY2021-22.
