Our #FirstYearFriday series continues, this time with a few major deadlines you should know.
August 1, 2019: Waive or enroll in Student Health Insurance.
We did a whole blog post about this in June and want to mention it again because it is SO IMPORTANT! And it has major financial repercussions. Check out that post – What’s up with Student Health Insurance? for more information.
Also due on August 1 is your Immunization Form through MedProctor.
August 6, 2019: Tuition bills for fall semester are due.
Check out the One Stop website for more information about finding your bill and making payments.
August 19, 2019: Complete your required online training modules.
All incoming Oxford students must complete three online programs prior to the August 19, 2019 deadline. Failure to complete these programs will put a hold on your account. The modules include:
- AlcoholEdu for College
- Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Students
August 22, 2019: Finish reading the summer reading book.
You should have received this year’s book, Stephanie Anderson’s One Size Fits None: A Farm Girl’s Search for the Promise of Regenerative Agriculture, at orientation in June.
You will participate in summer reading discussion groups on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:15 am. The author, Stephanie Anderson, will be our convocation speaker this year!
Varying Deadlines: Register for a Pre-Semester Program
Pre-semester programs are a great way to get involved and meet other new students before classes begin. There are 11 pre-semester programs at Miami and their deadlines vary. Some of them may already be full and some won’t close for a few weeks. Check them out now and sign up if you are interested!
While these are some of your “hard deadlines” for the fall semester, there are many other things you can do to set yourself up for a good year. We’ll have some tips for you in our next blog post!
