Q: How many resumes should I bring to the career fair?

A: Probably at least 10. Not every employer takes resumes; some will direct students to apply online or connect on LinkedIn for the application process!

Employment

Q: Where can we apply for student jobs, and are they flexible with any student’s schedule?

A: Log in to Workday with your Unique ID and password and search “Find Jobs” in the top search bar. Then click on the Find Jobs report! And yes! Students’ jobs are often very flexible and will work around your class times.

Q: I am actually paying into OPERS, where should I go to fix this?

A: Student employees have the first 30 days of employment to opt out of OPERS. During that period, you receive an email from OPERS with instructions on how to opt out. If you miss that 30-day deadline, you need to wait until you’re no longer employed at Miami, then contact OPERS directly to request a refund of your contributions.
