Check out the Student Health Insurance Video

Miami requires all full-time Oxford students to be covered by health insurance.

Thus, every year, ALL full-time Oxford students are automatically enrolled in Miami’s student health insurance plan by Aetna (cost: $1722.00 for the year).

But what if I already have health insurance?

If you already have health insurance, you may want to check with your existing plan to see if the Miami providers are included. If you are on a parent’s plan, it may be cheaper for them to remove you from their plan so you can get the student health insurance by Aetna. Compare the premiums and out of pocket expenses, along with which Oxford providers are in-network.

If you have compared the plans and have decided to stick with your existing insurance, you MUST WAIVE the Miami student health insurance by August 1, 2019. If you do not waive the insurance, you will automatically be charged the $1,722 premium.

I’m still confused.

If you want to get the student health insurance, you can either go ahead and enroll now OR do nothing. You will be enrolled automatically in August.

If you do not want to get the student health insurance, you must show that you have other insurance, and let Aetna know you do not want the student health insurance.

All of this can be done through the Aetna Portal.

What if I already waived the insurance last year?

You must waive EVERY year by August 1, or you will be automatically enrolled and charged. This goes for all full-time Oxford students.

Is there a video that explains this?

Yes, thanks for asking! Check out this cartoon video provided by Horan.

I have questions.
