Spring has sprung! While it was a relatively mild winter, we are now getting longer, sunnier, gorgeous days. It’s the perfect time of year to take a break from studying to enjoy the outdoors. The natural beauty of Oxford and Miami’s campus is the perfect environment for an outdoor adventure or even an escape for some time to yourself. If you’d like to got some fresh air and clear your mind, here are the top places to spend your time outdoors this spring!

Formal Gardens

The Formal Gardens are a great place to relax and take in the beauty of nature. The gardens are lush and green with beautiful flowers that make it the perfect quiet place to read a book, do homework, or just kick back and relax.

Trails on Western

Did you know that there are hiking and biking trails that run along Western campus? It’s true! Get out and explore! Explore the Trail Maps for some ideas!

Uptown Park

Located right in the heart of Uptown Oxford, Uptown Park is a nice place to spend your afternoon in the sun. Park benches, picnic tables, and a large grassy area are since alternatives to sitting at a desk inside. Not to mention, there are plenty of place to grab a quick lunch or a cup of coffee to enjoy outside as well.

Peffer Park

Off of Route-27 just a few minutes from campus, Peffer Park is another place for an outdoor adventure. The park offers trails, creeks, picnic areas (with grills), playground equipment, and more to explore!

Central Quad

Okay, so you probably already know about this one. But as one of the largest grassy areas on campus, Central Quad makes a fantastic spot to hangout with your friends right in front of MacCracken Hall. Bring out a blanket, some chairs, and/or music and you’re good to go for a day outside!

Hueston Woods

Just a quick drive away from campus, Hueston Woods is undoubtedly one of the best places to explore the outdoors in Oxford, Ohio. Beautiful landscapes, multiple hiking trails, huge lake with boat rentals, horseback riding, archery, and much more! Take some time out of your day to experience all that Hueston Woods has to offer.
