Recruitment season here at Miami has officially come to a close. With over a quarter of Miami students being Greek affiliated, recruitment is an annual tradition. Between men’s fraternity recruitment in January, and women’s sorority recruitment in January and February, a lot of exciting moments happened!

Curious as to how many new students joined organizations? Here is the official breakdown of the 2017 recruitment statistics provided by the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life:

Panhellenic Sorority Formal Recruitment 2017:

Number of sororities participating in formal recruitment: 16

Total number of women who registered: 1247

Total number of women who participated in Welcome Round: 1105

Total number of women who attended Preference Round: 1025

Total number of women who participated in bid matching: 977

Total number of women who received a bid: 962

Percent that matched during bid matching: 98.15%

  • Women who received their first choice: 728
  • Women who received there second choice: 184
  • Women who received their third choice: 47

IFC Fraternity Formal Recruitment 2017:

Number of fraternities participating in formal recruitment: 23

Total number of men who registered: 1011

Total number of men who participated in recruitment: 881

Total number of men who received/accepted a bid: 624

Percent of eligible men that joined: 70.83%
