Starting college can be stressful, especially if you don’t know your way around campus yet. To help you get started, we’ve created a list of helpful apps that will put you step or two ahead during your first semester here at Miami University.

1. Miami University Events App

If you haven’t already downloaded the Miami University Events app, make sure you get this one before move-in! Through the events app, you can download various “Guides” (e.g. Career Services, Family Weekend and Homecoming, and of course, Orientation and Welcome Week), each providing you with maps, the most current event schedules, checklists, weather, and more.

2. Corq

corq app

Corq integrates with the Hub and is the perfect way to discover student organizations and events. Filter events by distance, perks (free food, anyone?) or theme. It truly makes attending on campus programs as simple as humanly possible! Find the link on the Hub.

3. Google Calendar

Be sure to input all of your classes (with repeat occurrences for simplicity) and then use Google Calendar to set up reminders, alarms, and even maps that link to your destination. It’s not a bad idea to scan your syllabi for important dates and put those into the calendar as well!

4. Cbord Mobile ID

Once you arrive to your Residence Hall and have a meeting with your Residence Assistant, they will tell you to download MobileID. You’ll use the app if you ever accidentally lock yourself out of your building by using your phone as your ID to get back in! (Now just don’t lock yourself out with no ID AND no phone!)

5. Canvas by Instructure

Miami uses a program called Canvas Learning Management System for instructors to easily post grades, resources, assignments, announcements, and more. You’ll use Canvas in many (if not most) of your courses and having the Canvas app on your phone lets you easily access and submit whatever you need with a few taps of your fingers!

6. Just In Case

Just In case

The Just In Case App provides information to students who are concerned about themselves or a friend who might be at risk for suicide. The app is customized for Miami and offers strategies for how to approach or interact with a friend who you might be concerned about, as well as emergency information and resources in the area.

7. GET Miami
GET_MIAMI

GET Miami allows you to order food from a few select places on campus (no long lines!), find hours and descriptions of all dining locations on campus, see your recent transactions and available account balances and more!

8. The Miami University AppScreen Shot 2016-04-28 at 12.36.08 PM

This app will help you with virtually everything on Miami’s beautiful campus. It includes maps, bus routes, news, dining menus, sports, directories, and more! The downside? It’s currently only available for the iPhone and iPad.
