Wil Wheaton spoke for an hour and a half in Hall Auditorium last night, on his experiences and beliefs on bullying. The conversation involved some serious and not so serious topics, as well as an unexpected spider incident on the microphone…
Even though he had the audience fully entertained as he swatted the air and ran from the podium, his heartfelt message was a token that left everyone thinking about their actions as they left the event.
Wheaton spoke, “You have to stand up for people, more importantly, you have to stand up for people who can’t stand up for themselves”.
Wheaton came to campus as part of the University Lecture Series, which brings in three to five lectures each year addressing different disciplines within the academic community.
Earlier in the 2015-2016 year, the series featured:
- Pete Rose and Paul Daugherty: Winning is Everything: The Hit King Talks Ethics in Sport (September 21, 2015)
- Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi: #BlackLivesMatter: The Founders Speak (October 26, 2015)
- Caroll Spinney, Sonia Manzano, Michael Davis: The Role of Sesame Street in the Development of Cultural Awareness (February 15, 2016)
