Radical Learning; Community Arts and Social Impacts follows the research of a Preservice art education student. Using real life experiences, presenting, and engaging in interactive workshops and festivals. I am working to better understand how to build a community and answer the question of how radical learning can benefit all. As an art educator it is my priority to create the most uplifting and open environment for my students. Through my work and research in Radical hospitality and learning I have found ways to incorporate the philosophy into simple classroom structures. Integrating these practices into classrooms can help other teachers who are struggling with creating bonds and community in the classroom. My recent findings at the 2023 Across the Divide Conference opened the door for how we can create methods for communities outside of classrooms. Before my experience at the Across the Divide conference I engaged in the 2022 Electric Root festival which was founded on the ideas of radical hospitality. This year I plan to expand my research in radical hospitality by engaging in and developing the 2023 Electric Root festival along with presenting at the National Art Education Association conference in San Antonio TX. In doing so I hope to create spaces of radical hospitality and expand my knowledge on the subject as well as invite others to think creatively about using their spaces and positions.
