The research conducted in this study revolves specifically around music created by indigenous artists in order to spread a more positive outlook on their culture. We asked ourselves how this music can affect or strengthen their culture. In order to answer that question, we explored several videos and articles on one specific music group called Halluci Nation. Halluci Nation is a band that was originally known as A Tribe Called Red. It’s made up of only two men who combine electronic music and the drums to create a unique, ethnic sound. It was quite interesting learning about them and their style as four girls with an interest in Spanish. The question is highly relevant to our fields of study because, again, it is tied to the roots of Spanish culture. Some of our major findings were that, upon the release of indigenous inspired music, there was a strong positive response from the community of indigenous people. At last, these people felt as though they found a place in the media to be represented. This encouraged Halluci Nation to continue producing their music and unite their community even further. It also showed the two artists that they are not alone in fighting this battle. We discovered a few other bands, such as Inmortal Kultura and Nación Rap, who have similar end goals for their own cultures. It showed all of us that there is strength in unity. Moving forward, we will continue to acknowledge and support the members of these bands. The ultimate goal is for each culture to feel appreciated and respected.
