Things You’ve Thought about Doing on Campus but Haven’t

March 10, 2026 | No Comments

Campus is full of things you’ve probably walked past a hundred times and thought, “I should try that someday.” Between classes, homework, and your usual routines, those ideas tend to stay on the mental list but never actually happen. Consider this your sign to finally check a few off that list!

Go to the pool/ hot tub

The rec pool and hot tub might be the most relaxing place on campus. Whether you want a quick study break or a relaxing hang with friends, it’s basically a mini reset without leaving campus. Think of it as a little getaway!

Ride the bus

Walking everywhere is a part of campus life, but sometimes it’s nice to sit back and let the bus take you across campus. It’s a simple way to get around while enjoying a different view of campus. Not sure how to ride? We have a blog post for that!

Rock wall

If you’ve ever walked past the rock wall in the Rec Center and wondered what it’s like, this is your chance to try it! It’s a fun way to challenge yourself and switch up your usual workout routine. Check out the Climbing Center policies on the Rec website.

Ice skating

You don’t have to be a great skater to enjoy the rink at Goggin. Grab some friends, take a few laps, and enjoy one of the coolest activities campus has to offer. Check out the public skating times before you go.

Watch (or try!) Broomball

If you’ve never seen broomball before, you’re missing out. It’s fast, a little chaotic, and surprisingly competitive. Even if you don’t know the rules, it’s still fun to watch!

Explore the trails

Sometimes the best break from a busy day is just getting outside. The trails around campus are perfect when you want a walk, a run, or have a quick reset. Check out a map of the trails at the Natural Areas website.

Makerspace at King

The Makerspace at King is one of those places you’ve probably heard about but never actually visited. It’s the perfect spot to get creative and try something new with hands-on projects and cool tools like 3D printers, embroidery machines, and more. Check the Makerspace website for the full slate of what’s available and how to make a reservation.

See a play

Campus theatre productions are often overlooked, but they’re always impressive. It’s a fun way to spend an evening and support the creative work happening right here on campus. The upcoming shows are always listed on Theatre’s production season page.

Go to a Miami Men’s Glee Club concert

A glee concert is one of those campus experiences you should try at least once. The talent, energy, and atmosphere make it a really fun performance to see.

There’s always something happening on campus, and sometimes the best plans are the ones you almost didn’t make. If one of these has been sitting on your “I should try that” list, maybe it’s finally time to give it a try.
