With the spring semester starting, Miami Activities and Programming (MAP) has been hard at work planning a full calendar of events so you can spend your weekends watching the newest movies, traveling to Cincinnati for a soccer game, and maybe even heading to a concert for some live music!
Love and Stuffies
This Valentine’s Day, join MAP for a bear-y exciting stuff-a-plush event! The annual I Love You Beary Much program is a great chance to stuff an animal, take a photo, and make some memories! Bears will be available for pickup and stuffing in the Armstrong Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and you will need to reserve your plush ahead of time. Keep an eye on the MAP Instagram (@miami_map) as we reveal what this year’s bears will be, and the ticket link goes live!
Your Artistic Side
Art After Dark is back! It’s your time to get creative trying a whole lot of art and crafts, including sculpture, coloring, figure drawing, Chinese calligraphy, origami, collage, button making, book binding, beads and threads, knitting and paint your own pottery. All while listening to live acoustic music and eating homemade gourmet popcorn! (Feb. 18)
In addition to Art after Dark, check out Canvases and Cookies on Feb. 10, pottery painting on April 6, and Bloom with MAP on April 28.
Springfest
The annual Springfest will be hosted on Spring Street on Saturday, April 15 (rain date scheduled for April 22). In previous years, there have been craft activities, rides, airbrushed hats, custom street signs, yard games, and of course free food and t-shirts! This is one of the biggest events MAP puts on in the spring semester and you won’t want to miss out.
Electric Root Festival
Join MAP and the Performing Arts Series for the Electric Root Festival on Saturday, April 29. Hosted in the Uptown Parks, this festival is an arts and culture community event for all, celebrating Black Joy and Radical Hospitality!
Spring Concert (not yet announced!)
MAP will present a big “spring show” at Millett Hall on Monday, May 5! More information will be announced soon, but rumor has it that there will be some pretty special guests attending that you won’t want to miss!
Beyond the Bricks
The Beyond the Bricks series takes students off campus to explore regional attractions. This spring, you can go snow tubing at Perfect North (in Indiana) in February and cheer on Cincinnati’s home team at the FC Cincinnati game in March.
So Much More!
