Chances are, you’ve had some virtual classes this semester. Or maybe you’re like me – and all of your classes are online. And let’s be real – they can be a lot to handle. We’re nearing the end of the semester and it’s important to buckle down and finish the semester off right. You don’t want those grades you worked so hard for to slip through your fingertips. We created a list of ways to make the most out of a virtual day, so that you have a successful academic end to 2020.
Breakfast
Start your day off on the right foot and wake up early enough for breakfast. Hear me out. Even if your classes start in the afternoon, a regular routine can keep you on track – and breakfast is a great way to start! And now that daylight savings has passed, you’ll appreciate waking up earlier and experiencing more of your day in sunlight.
My go-to breakfast is an english muffin with two sunny-side eggs. It’s super easy to make and tastes great! Eggs are also one of the cheapest things to buy from the grocery store. That means more money for ice cream.
Stay Active
Since you’re probably not walking to and from classes so much – or at all – this semester, fin other ways to implement movement into your routine. We’ve all had a day where we found ourselves in back-to-back Zoom meetings, not leaving the house/building at all. Odds are, you didn’t feel great after that. My mood is the worst on those days and I find myself being the least productive. I try to incorporate a walk when I have breaks in my class schedule. The fresh fall air feels amazing after a long lecture on Zoom. I also love going for a walk before an exam because it boosts my brain so I’m ready to ACE it!
Schedule with your Friends
I always try to go to my friend’s houses when we have a class together; that way I can still experience in-person interaction throughout the week. While scheduling your classes for next semester, keep this in mind and try to take one with a friend. They’ll also make a great study buddy down the line.
“Me Time”
School is important. It’s why we’re here at Miami University. However, it’s equally as important to keep a healthy and happy headspace too. Find time throughout the day for “me time.” I always try to unplug from school by 5 pm each night. It can be difficult to do this when your work space is also where you relax, but setting a specific time to be done with school makes it easier to stick to. It also keeps me from procrastinating, even if it is a self-imposed deadline.
