10 Electives to Look Forward to for Fall 2025

This semester has flown by, and with spring break now behind us, it’s a great time to start looking at fall semester electives! Registration opens on Wednesday, April 9. Choosing electives can be overwhelming, but we’ve got you covered with some standout options to add to your schedule.

SLM 150B | Beginning Backpacking (2 Credit Hours)

Want to earn college credit while enjoying the outdoors? This course is perfect for anyone looking to learn backpacking fundamentals while having fun. It covers everything from safe travel practices to weather and risk management. A course fee of $180 applies.

MAC 202 | The Smartphone and Society (3 Credit Hours)

Let’s be real—our phones are practically an extension of ourselves. This course takes a deep dive into how smartphones shape our lives, politics, and culture. What’s better than analyzing TikTok trends while earning credit?

ATH 113 | Investigating the Paranormal (3 Credit Hours)

Ghosts, Bigfoot, UFOs, and more! If you love a good mystery, this class is for you. This course dives deep into the scientific method by investigating paranormal topics. You’ll test hypotheses, analyze mysteries of the Ohio Valley, and even get hands-on experience with ghost-hunting gear!

SLM 130O | Basic Ice Skating (2 Credit Hours)

EDL 290T | Tabletop Games & Leadership (2 Credit Hours)

Playing board games during class? Yes, you heard that right! This course lets you have fun with board and card games while learning valuable leadership lessons along the way. If you love strategy games and want to boost your leadership skills, this one’s a no-brainer.
