Choosing classes can sometimes feel like an overwhelming and lengthy task. However, these simple tips can help speed up the process and prepare anyone for their registration time within minutes.
- Check your DAR: Your DAR can be found on BannerWeb, and will give you a list of classes to choose from that meet your major requirement.
- Look up professors on Ratemyprofessor.com: Looking up professors can help maximize your learning experience and easily help you differentiate between a multitude of class sections. Although take some of the info with a grain of salt – people tend to rate when they have an extreme opinion (whether that be positive or negative)!
- Ask around: If you’re at a loss for what class to choose, there are students all around campus who would be more than willing to give you their opinion or experience in a class.
- Jot down class codes: This will help you save time during your registration time slot. If you jot down a list of your class codes, you can quickly type them in without having to go back and reference.
- Check Miami’s Grade Distribution System: Log on to MyMiami and click the “G” from the linked alphabet to the right, and it will take you to a site where you can see the grade distributions from certain classes and teachers.
Now you’re a pro! Using these tips will help simplify the class registration process for the rest of your time at Miami. If you’re still having difficulty, the Rinella Learning Center offers numerous workshops that help with stress, picking classes, time management, and more. Making an appointment with your Academic Advisor can also help if you are in search for more direction.
