Nursing burnout is emotional and physical exhaustion due to the stress of the job. Nursing burnout is extremely important because it can lead to a lack of patient care. Finding ways to help relieve nursing burnout can increase nursing productivity, better patient care, and increase longevity of a nurse’s career (Samson 2020). Our research project looks in depth what nursing burnout is, what it can lead to and most importantly the interventions to help with it. In our study we analyzed 6 different research articles about interventions of nursing burnout. There were a variety of research tactics used such as randomized control groups and systematic studies. We were able to break down sample sizes and what interventions worked and what did not based on these studies. We found many interventions that looked promising. Methods and interventions such as meditation, therapy, peer counseling, imagery, and light therapy were used in these studies and many found to decrease symptoms of nursing burnout. Overall this study is extremely relevant to our future as nurses because we will all be full time nurses eventually and such a large percent of nurses struggle with burnout. There are so many healthcare workers out there that are suffering from this and studies like this can really make a difference.
