Q: So what exactly is required to be worn at graduation? Just cap and gown?
A: Grads are required to wear academic attire (cap and gown, tassel, plus any stoles, cords, or medallions earned). Check out Graduation FAQs for more!
Q: Any last-minute things seniors should do before graduation?
A: Soak up these last few days with friends and campus. Finish up assignments and finals. Remember, you’ll lose Miami Google access within a few months, so start saving what you need elsewhere. Aside from that, make sure you know the details for graduation ceremonies this weekend and that your cap and gown are hanging up and ready to go. Congratulations!
Q: How do we get cords for graduation for Summa cum laude?
A: Students will receive an email from commencement regarding how to pick up the honor cord before Grad Fest (usually in late March/early April)!
Q: How long will the graduation ceremonies last?
A: The main ceremony is expected to last 90-120 minutes. Divisional ceremonies typically last around 90 minutes.
Q: Are grad caps & gowns rental or do we keep them? When to schedule a photo shoot for May grad?
A: You keep the grad cap and gown (purchase in spring, Grad Fest is usually early April). Photo shoots usually start happening in late March/early April and through until graduation – probably start scheduling in January/February.
