Whether you’re looking for something to do, searching for an organization to join, or managing a student organization, Miami Central puts those opportunities in one place.

For Students
Events
Wondering what’s happening around campus? Start with Events. A few hints:
- Use the filters. Are you looking for an event that offers free food? Something that’s open to everyone? Something social? There are tons of filters to help you narrow down what your options are.
- Check back regularly to discover new events and opportunities. Last month averaged 32 events per day!
- Download the Miami Central app. You’ll use it to check in to events!
Groups
Looking for a way to get more involved on campus? Groups are a great place to start! Here are a few ways to use groups most effectively:
- You can browse all of the student organizations on campus! Not sure what type of organization is the right fit for you? No problem! Use the group category bar to find a category that speaks to your interests.
- Found an organization that piqued your interest? Visit their page to check out their upcoming events, leadership team, mission, and more!
Profile
Do you want to make your Miami Central experience more personalized? Let’s update your profile! Here are a few ways to make the most of it:
- Tell Miami Central what you’re interested in! Add your interests to your profile so you can find organizations, events, and other opportunities that match what you’re looking for.
- Keep your profile up to date! As you get involved in new things or your interests change, update your profile so you can continue finding opportunities that are relevant to you.
- Check out other students’ profiles, too! You can learn more about other Miami students and find people who share your interests.

Did you know you can see everything you have going on outside of classes through Miami Central? My Activity keeps it all together! Here are a few things you can find there:
- Want to see what you have coming up? Check My Schedule, My Events, and My Meetings to keep track of everything on your calendar.

For Student Organization Leaders
You’re already doing a lot to keep your organization running. Why not let Miami Central help with some of it? From managing your members to promoting your next event, there are plenty of tools you can use to keep your organization organized and connected.
Groups
Your Groups page is more than just a place for students to find your organization! It’s also where you can keep your organization’s information organized and up to date.
- Make sure students know who you are! Add your organization’s mission, leadership team, contact information, and other details so students can get a feel for your group before they join.
- Keep your leadership team current. Update your officers and contacts so students know who to reach out to.
- Keep track of your members. Manage your membership and use member tags to organize members into different groups when you need to.
- Give students a reason to join! Keep your page updated with the information students need to see what your organization is all about and how they can get involved.
Events
You’re putting in the work to plan your events, so make sure students can actually find them! Miami Central gives you tools to promote your events, keep track of attendance, and see how they went.
- Get your event in front of students! Create your event through Miami Central, and it can flow to the Localist events calendar, giving students another place to discover what you’re hosting.
- Make it easy for students to sign up. Allow students to register for your event ahead of time, so you have a better idea of who’s coming.
- Keep track of attendance. Use Miami Central for quick check-in and check-out at your events.
- Earn points for your organization! The more your organization uses Miami Central and gets students involved, the more points you can earn. Keep an eye on the leaderboard and see how your organization stacks up!
- Find out what your attendees thought! Send an automatic feedback form after your event to get feedback and see what worked well.
Email and Notifications
Trying to get the word out to your members? Miami Central gives you a few different ways to make sure your message reaches the right people!
- Reach your whole organization or just a specific group. You can send emails to everyone or use member tags and other information to target the people who need to see it.
- Make your messages personal! Add members’ first and last names and link directly to their Miami Central profiles.
- See what’s working. You can track email opens and clicks to see how your members are engaging with your messages.
- Need to get someone’s attention quickly? Send a mobile app notification for important updates or reminders.
- Make it easy for members to take action. Add smart links that take students directly to an event, form, news post, officer profile, or other Miami Central page.
Feeds and Channels
Want to give your organization a place to stay connected outside of meetings and events? Feeds and Channels let you create spaces for your members to communicate, share updates, and keep the conversation going.
- Create a space for your whole organization. Use a feed to share announcements, ask questions, post updates, or start conversations.
- Need something more specific? Create a channel! Channels can be public or private and can be used for smaller groups within your organization.
- Keep conversations in one place. Instead of important questions or updates getting lost in a group chat, members can find them right on Miami Central.
- Get creative with how you use them. Use a channel for a leadership team, a specific project, event planning, or even casual conversations within your organization.
Forms, Surveys, and Badges
Want to collect information from your members, keep track of what they’ve completed, or recognize their accomplishments? Forms, Surveys and Badges can help you do all of that right in Miami Central!
- Create forms and surveys. Need members to sign up for something, share feedback, or complete a quiz? You can create forms and surveys and share them through Miami Central or include them in emails.
- Keep track of tasks and activities. Create tracks and checklists for members to complete, whether that means watching a video, submitting a form, attending an event, or completing another activity.
- Make involvement more interactive. Use forms and activities as part of a larger checklist or track so members can see what they’ve completed and what they still have left to do.
- Recognize your members! Create digital badges to celebrate accomplishments, like attending a certain number of workshops, completing an online training, or checking off a bucket-list item.
