Discover Oxford this Fall Break
Fall Break has arrived – and it is finally starting to feel like fall. You have survived midterms and are halfway through the semester. If you have opted to stay in Oxford this Fall Break, we’ve got you covered! We have crafted a list of ways you can discover our wonderful town!
1. Go Bowling
Did you know Oxford had a bowling alley? Gather a group of friends and get your competition on at Oxford Lanes.
2. Enjoy Nature
Try Oxford’s new recreational trail at Leonard Howell Park. Whether you walk, jog, or bike this 2.25 mile trail, just go outside and be active! If you don’t have a car on-campus, not to worry, you can still hike around campus on a few of our trails.
3. Try a New Restaurant
There are so many delicious places to eat in Uptown, try going to some place new this weekend! Our personal favorites are smoothie bowls from Fridge & Pantry (Insta worthy!) and brunch from Steinkellers. The best part? They’re all a short walking distance from your residence-hall.
4. Throw a Movie Night
Pop popcorn, throw on some fuzzy socks, and settle in for a long night of movies. The residence-halls won’t be as busy as usual, so this is the PERFECT time to take advantage of the TV in your common area!
5. Let Loose! To the Sound of Music or Paint
If you’re looking to use your artsy skills this weekend, visit You’re Fired and choose from a variety of differnt items to paint. Afterwards, on Friday, you can sing to your favorite tunes at Books and Brew’s Open Mic Night (8pm).
6. Farmers Market
Wake up early and visit Oxford’s Farmers Market in Uptown Park on Saturday from 8am-noon. If you’re up early enough, you may even catch a beautiful sunrise for your Snapchat story. There will also be tons of photo worthy flowers, fresh produce, and much more!
7. Celebrate the Arts at the Oxford Community Arts Center
Beginning at 6 pm on the second Friday of each month is a free event! There will be music, new art exhibitions, open 3rd Floor Studios and ArtShop.
8. Go Ice Skating
Take a break from the heat and cool down in Goggin’s ice rink. Public skating is available all weekend long, so you can’t miss out!
