Behind the Scenes of Oxford

December 2, 2016 | No Comments

Wondering what has been happening in Oxford lately? You may have noticed a few new changes! Here is a behind the scenes synopsis of the changes that have been coming to Oxford.

Arby’s

If you’ve been on the West side of town in the past few weeks, you may have noticed something missing. Arby’s no longer sits on Lynn Ave. next to Taco Bell. The restaurant is not in service and has been completely torn down. Word on the street is that Arby’s will be replaced by…. a new Arby’s!

Princess Movie Theater

Built in 1911, the “Oxford Theater” is near and dear to many Oxford residents’ hearts. In 1950, the theater’s name was changed to “Talawanada Theater” and later changed to “Princess Theater” in the 1980s after an expansion renovation. The theater was equipped with four screen that played popular, first-run movies. After being open for quite some time, the theater closed in 2012 and then later reopened in 2013, but sadly was closed in 2014 due to fire damage from an ice machine malfunction.

As you may have noticed recently, the theater appears as if it is being rebuilt once again! Apartments were added above, and many are hopeful that a theater will be up and running at some point! Nothing has been denied or confirmed about this theater actually reopening, so all we can do is sit back and wait for now.
