Have you noticed Swoop’s glow-up? University Communications and Marketing, in collaboration with Intercollegiate Athletics, has created sport-specific illustrations of our mascot — Swoop the RedHawk. Seventeen new, unique Swoop illustrations showcase our student-athletes.
Each illustration began with research on not only the sport represented, but also the Miami-specific uniform. Miami Athletics staff members, coaches, and student athletes provided feedback to ensure that these illustrations accurately portray our RedHawk athletic programs.
After sketches were approved, the graphics were digitally inked and colored by senior graphic designer Kenzie Bryant.
Swoop can be found on social media posts, athletic giveaway items, and official Miami University merchandise is available for purchase from licensed vendors such as Brick & Ivy and Rally House. Even men’s basketball head coach Travis Steele has sported Swoop courtside and at press conferences.
Swoop in Motion
Select programs also have animated Swoop graphics for social media and scoreboard applications: baseball, basketball, hockey, softball, and volleyball. Recent College of Creative Arts graduate David Shuppert ’25 created the animations frame-by-frame in collaboration with UCM and ICA. Baseball

How do I access Swoop?
Interested in using these Swoop assets for your next sport-related design? Contact Jake Warnke (Assistant Athletic Director for Apparel, Equipment, and Operations for Sport and Facility Services) to request use of these illustrations and animations. Swoop illustrations will be available on select merchandise as they begin to get rolled out to the greater university community. Modified versions of Swoop are not allowed and any new poses must be created through UCM and ICA.
