July 1 Project Update

The BDM upgrade has been implemented in PROD this week. We will be starting our testing of attaching documents to JVs shortly. We look forward to releasing this functionality in the fall.

All Banner upgrades from the March releases are now in our testing environments. Functional users will start validating the updates and new features for use at Miami.

We are busy, behind the scenes, setting the stage for SSB9 Student module releases in November. We’ve also begun the work on converting some of our custom functionality from SSB8 to SSB9 where necessary.

Happy Fourth of July everyone! Stay safe.

June 24 Project Update

The clone of the PROD environment was completed last weekend. Upgrades have been fully applied to the DEVL environment. TEST upgrades are in process.

AR
The team is investigating new functionality to replace the current ePromise process. ePromise, for those who don’t know, is Miami’s requirement that students accept and acknowledge financial responsibility for their attendance here each year. We are moving from a local modification to a baseline process approach delivered in Banner.

And, WOW! Can you believe it? The fourth of July is just a little more than a week away!

June 17 Project Update

This weekend, beginning the evening of Friday, June 17, the Banner development and test environments will be refreshed from production.

FINANCE
The team did initial testing on validating Journal Voucher attachments this week.

The Banner Team wishes everyone a good Juneteenth Day!

June 10 Project Update

The team is in the process of updating the Development and Testing environments of Banner to the most recent version delivered by Ellucian in March. We will then begin verifying the current and new functionality available to Miami.

FINANCE
Would you like to electronically attach documentation to your Journal Vouchers? The team is testing this new functionality with the expectation to make it available to end-users in mid/late fall. (Yeah, one step closer to a green and efficient environment!)

REGISTRATION
In order to ensure that everyone who is eligible to register can do so in a timely manner, we are working with an outside vendor to load test Registration.

EMPLOYEE
Lastly, several items are also being addressed by an outside vendor to ensure the current functionality we have for the collection and maintenance of your work address, as well as the collection and maintenance of W4 state withholding certificates.

May 26 Project Update

EMPLOYEE
We have begun the design process for completing Effort Certification Reporting. For those who don’t know, Effort Certification allows us to report to the federal government how the grants we receive are used to support salaries and wages for faculty/staff at Miami. We expect our first reporting cycle in the new system to begin with the Fall term beginning in December 2022 after the last payroll for the term.

The annual benefits signup is coming… The team is installing Ellucian’s most recent upgrades from March so that we can evaluate using the new functionality during our enrollment period.

REGISTRATION
Now that the target date for rolling out Registration (Nov. 21, 2022) is confirmed, the team is moving forward with the initial design of the functionality. In addition, the team is contracting with an outside vendor to do load testing to ensure that the volume of students registering is handled smoothly and efficiently.

May 20 Project Update

REGISTRATION
Registration go-live is currently scheduled for November 21, 2022 – immediately following our November registration period. AR will also go live at that time to align with registration. In addition to these two rollouts, a new, streamlined approach for ePromise will also be available to our students.

EMPLOYEE
Wait for it… but not too long… ePAF functionality will be rolled out in late summer. Look for information, documentation, and overviews in your regular Academic Personnel and HR communications in mid-summer.

FINANCIAL AID
Our go live on April 18 is officially declared a success! We’ve had over 12,000-page hits since that day and are happy to report there have been no reported issues from students or staff. Great job team! Special shout out to Heather Bechtol and Leigh Mondello-Garrett for their dedication and leadership in achieving this.

May 12 Project Update

EMPLOYEE Module
The team is moving forward with designing the approach for Effort Certification within Self Service. Testing and Training will be done in late Fall. Upgrades are now being applied in our development and testing environments including benefits signup functionality and tax documents.

FINANCIAL AID Module
To date, no issues have been reported to IT Services by students or end-users. If no issues are reported, the project will close on May 17, 2022. Upgrades are now being applied in our development and testing environments including some accessibility fixes.

May 6 Project Update

We will soon be installing the latest available releases of Banner 9 Self Service into our development and test instances. Miami continues to meet with Ellucian to address accessibility issues in Banner 9 Self Service.

GENERAL Module
No changes since last week.

EMPLOYEE Module
New functionality is included in the upgrades that have been requested for our development and test instances.  Stay tuned!

FINANCE Module
The team is reviewing other functionality for potential future implementation.

REGISTRATION Module
Staff turnover is delaying implementation.  We are strategizing options for resuming our progress for implementation.

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE (Bursar) Module
We plan to align this implementation with Registration.

FINANCIAL AID Module
Went live on April 18! We will continue to monitor for Ellucian fixes to any open items. This is now part of our ongoing, scheduled upgrades process.

April 29 Project Update

GENERAL module
A new tab has been added to the SSB9 Configuration dashboard that allows access to the Page Audit data, so we can view the usage of SSBp pages. Auditing was turned on in PROD on 4/18/2022.

EMPLOYEE module
ePAF deployment is on track to go live on May 16. Workflow upgrade completed in DEVL/TEST and ready for ePAF testing.

FINANCE module
Budget Development training was held on April 26. The BDM upgrade is to be moved up, and we are considering May 9 to June 23. March Finance and AR upgrades are available and will be requested to be installed in DEVL/TEST before the scheduled June 27 date.

STUDENT FINANCIAL AID module
Awaiting fix on the defect that is causing only one Thank You letter requirement to be displayed. A correction was expected this month but there is no release number for the fix. We will continue to monitor.

Several Banner 9 Self Service modules are now live

The latest phase of Miami’s transition from Banner 8 to Banner 9 is the implementation of the “self-service” modules. This is the part of Banner that many of us interact with currently through BannerWeb. There are multiple individual modules for Self Service Banner 9 (SSB 9) that have already gone live into production, along with some additional ones that are still in progress. The next step is for you to start using these new modules on a daily basis.

The modules that are currently available to use include the following (with a link to the actual tool):
