For week 1, we played Ultimate Werewolf with our whole class, which was around 25 people. The game was brand new to me, however, I saw games like this on social media, such as mafia, Imposter, etc., so it made it a bit more enjoyable, making it easier to pick up on. Within the game, everyone was assigned a role for the game, and long story short, the villagers were trying to vote out the Werewolves, who were trying to kill as many villagers as possible without being caught.I think this game allows for a good all around vibe amongst the group because it forces villagers, and other in the game, to communicate and work together to find out who the werewolves are.
In my opinion, the hardest topic about the game was voting people out. this aspect of the game was difficult because, obviously, you don’t know who is killing who at night. This is where the leadership aspect of the game came into play. It was often seen that there were a lot of following the group based on majority. There was truly nobody who stuck to his or her vote and stayed strong. Looking back on this point, the people who lead these votes ended up being the werewolves, who ultimately won the game because of them taking charge on votes.
Looking back on this session, I actually enjoyed this game because it broke the ice of the class and was a pretty fun game. I think this game could be played by any type of groups with the right amount of people. I would highly recommend this game because of the group involvement it requires. All in all, I enjoyed Ultimate Werewolf and would definitely [lay it again!
