This week I played Herd Mentality which is a party game where someone asks a question and you write an answer that matches what the majority said, if you did not you were out of the herd. The hardest part about this game is we had a small group and were all around the same age having us all come up with the same answers for all the questions or we would all 4 have different answers. At the beginning we had to choose a leader to read off the questions and say their answer first. The game was fun, but we all agreed it would be more fun as a group and did not even feel the need to keep track of points because it was fun just seeing the answers.
The mechanics listed on board game geek were hot potato and voting. Hot potato is a mechanic because you pass the golden cow back and forth to the people who have the most unique answer and you do not want to end up with it. Additionally, voting was listed which I am not sure why because we never voted… maybe we missed a step in the instructions. I would add betting is a mechanic because you’re betting that your answer will be the most said.
In the future I would like to play this game at a family reunion or something like that. Having a bigger group from different age demographics would allow for more different answers and different questions (we skipped a few questions because they either felt too basic and we knew we would all say the same thing or we could not come up with a single answer). The game is very easy to understand so it is accessible to all ages as well.
