Through the generous gift from William (MU ‘36) and Dorothy Yeck of Dayton, Ohio, Miami University has a unique opportunity to assist students and the community at large to develop a critical understanding of painting in the 21st century. The competition winner will be awarded the $10,000 William and Dorothy Yeck Award and the painting will become part of Miami University’s permanent collection. This year’s competition focuses on representational/realist painting.

Annie Ewaskio
Annie Ewaskio, the 2016 winner of the William and Dorothy Yeck Young Painters
Competition shares her latest studio works in the exhibition. Annie Ewaskio received her B.A. from Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa and her M.F.A. from Hunter College – CUNY, New York, New York. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Ewaskio has exhibited largely in the United States, including New York, Baltimore, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Her work has appeared in publications including The New Yorker, The New York Times Style Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, New American Paintings, and on the cover of West Branch. Recently, she was awarded a Jerome Foundation grant to sail with The Arctic Circle Residency in Svalbard (June 2016) and will be an artist-in-residence at the Bemis Center For Contemporary Arts, Omaha, Nebraska
