Welcome to the Spring 2022 Miami University Undergraduate Research Forum!
One of the hallmarks of Miami University is our commitment to making research opportunities available to undergraduate students. We are consistently nationally recognized for the large number of undergraduates who engage in research with their faculty. Currently, over 2,000 Miami undergraduate students are engaged in research. These research experiences deepen students’ understanding of their content areas, provide innovation in the fields in which they study, and prepare many of our students for graduate school and rewarding careers in research fields. Our faculty commitment to providing these unique experiences is unparalleled in public universities.
This year’s forum highlights research projects across Miami University’s academic divisions: Arts & Science, Business, Creative Arts, Education, Health, & Society, Engineering & Computing, and Liberal Arts & Science. We are pleased this year to also consider how our mission around undergraduate research can enhance the University’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. All of these efforts reflect our faculty’s commitment to undergraduate education and the teacher-scholar approach to their work.
Congratulations to the over 400 students from across the University who are presenting their work this year, many of whom are first-year students. And, a most sincere thank you to the 108 faculty mentors who have devoted time and energy to mentoring these students. Finally, thank you to the Office of Research for Undergraduates for their tireless effort to ensure that these opportunities are available to students, and that they are celebrated in this amazing forum. I am excited to learn along with you as I peruse the over 21 sessions available virtually in our 2022 forum!
Love and Honor,
