Telling A People’s Story is dedicated to the memory of those who blazed new trails and opened the doors for the development of African-American children’s literature. Special appreciation is extended to the Exhibition Committee and students who collectively shaped and defined the exhibition, programming and conference. Particular recognition is extended to Brenda Dales, Co-Project Leader, who brought vast knowledge, resources and passion to this project. Admiration and appreciation is offered to Rudine Sims Bishop for her original scholarship, which paved the way for the critical assessment of African-American children’s illustrated literature. Great appreciation is extended to the staff of the Art Museum for their many contributions and steadfast dedication to this project.
