What is YouTube?
YouTube, as most will know, is a video sharing and social media platform owned by Google. It’s a great way to find additional video content to share with students. If you’re uploading your own videos, we recommend using Kaltura (My Media), which is internal to Miami University.
Is it available in Canvas?
Yes, you can easily search publicly available YouTube videos using the Rich Content Editor when building assignments, pages, etc. Click the Apps icon (the plug), select View All, choose YouTube, and search for your video(s). Canvas provides detailed instructions for linking to a YouTube video in the Rich Content Editor.
Is there a cost?
No. YouTube is a free website, and the Canvas integration just makes it easy to quickly search for and embed YouTube videos in your Canvas course.
