Where can I retrieve a recorded Zoom class meeting?

Where your recorded class sessions are saved depends on whether you recorded them to the cloud or to your computer (i.e., locally). If you recorded your Zoom meeting to the cloud, students may be able to watch it within Canvas, or you can copy a sharing link from your account in Miami’s Zoom web portal. However, if you opted to record your Zoom meeting locally (i.e., to your computer), you’ll need to search for its video file on your computer.

How to find recorded Zoom meetings in your Canvas course

Recorded class meetings will actually show up under the Zoom link in your course navigation menu if you recorded them to the cloud. Just click the Cloud Recordings tab near the top of the page.

Note that Zoom will only show meetings from the past day; you (and your students) may need to change the date range in the “From / To” boxes to include a wider range of dates.

How to find recorded meetings in your Zoom account

If you recorded your class meeting to the cloud but it isn’t appearing in your Canvas course, follow these steps:

  1. Go to miamioh.zoom.us
  2. Log in with your Miami credentials. Once you’re logged in, your Zoom account will be displayed with a list of your upcoming Zoom meetings.
  3. Click the Recordings link in the menu on the left side of the page. You’ll see a list of all of your meeting recordings; you can share them one of two ways:
    • Share as a link: Click the Share button to the right of the meeting’s name. Then, you can copy link sharing information to paste into an email for students.
    • Share as a video: Click the More button that appears to the right of a meeting’s name, then select the Download option on its drop-down menu. You’ll likely find that 3 files download to your computer; the .mp4 one is your video recording.

You’ll need to add the video of your recorded meeting to your Canvas course through Kaltura MyMedia; you can find a guide for this on our Resources website.
