Teaching an Online Course at Miami for the First Time?
Miami Online offers the Teaching Online at Miami University (TOMU) resource course in Canvas each semester. This entirely asynchronous online companion course is designed for instructors embarking on their first online teaching journey at Miami or for those interested in learning more about utilizing the Canvas LMS at Miami. Learning modules align with the typical needs of a semester, featuring activities and resources that align with the Miami University Statement of Essential Online Teaching Practices to help faculty communicate with students, navigate relevant Canvas features, and troubleshoot common technical and student support issues. TOMU enrollment begins two weeks prior to the start of each semester, and successful completion is added to each individual’s Workday Learning Transcript at the end of the semester.
