How can I share a recorded Zoom meeting with just a few students?

If you record a Zoom meeting to the cloud, it’ll show up under the Recording tab in the Zoom link in your Canvas course. There’s no way to hide this tab, so if you don’t want students to have access to the recording, you’ll need to instead record the meeting to your computer.

Then, if you have students who need to view the recording, you’d need to make it available using one of these options:

  • upload it to Google Drive and share it with the student(s) via email; or
  • embed it in a page in Canvas via Kaltura My Media, and restrict the page’s visibility to only the students who need to see it.

Note on Deleting Cloud Recordings

Consider that you have the ability to delete cloud recordings yourself if no one needs to view them; however, this might cause confusion since students may get email notifications about a recording’s availability. In addition, you can change your Recording settings in Zoom so that meeting recordings are automatically deleted after a specific number of days, which means that all students will still be able to view recordings but for a shorter amount of time.

You’ll need to log in to miamioh.zoom.us to delete cloud recordings or change your Recording settings.
