ShareFest 2024/Chestnut Fields Parking Restrictions
The email below was sent to all Chestnut Fields Parking Permit holders on 5/7/24 making them aware of the upcoming parking restrictions in the Chestnut Fields parking lot.
Parking Restriction May 15-21
ShareFest is an annual collection drive which accepts good-condition and reusable furniture, housewares, clothing, and non-perishable food from Miami University students and Oxford residents. Once again this year, ShareFest is basing its collection operations in the Chestnut Fields parking lot which will require a number of parking spaces to accommodate them.
If your car is parked in one of the highlighted areas below please move it before Wednesday, May 15th at 7 am so the semi trucks can be positioned. Cars parked in the yellow area after 7 am on Wednesday May 15th will be cited and towed out of the area at the owner’s expense.
Alternative parking options include: The empty spaces on the west side of the lot, Millett West parking lot, and starting Saturday you may park in red permit areas throughout campus until the end of the semester since Miami does not enforce permit restrictions during move-out week so parents can pick up their students. (Meters and garages still require payment.)

Spring Break Parking Reminders
The email below was sent to residence hall students today regarding spring break parking.
Resident,
Students with parking permits who are staying on campus over Spring Break may park in red permit spaces from Friday, March 22 through Monday, April 1st at 7 am.
Parents often send students back to campus with a car after Spring Break for the remainder of the semester. If this happens to you, here’s what you need to know:
*A permit is required to park in University parking lots or drives at all times.
*One-week yellow temporary permits may be purchased online through your student account in the online parking portal or in the Campus Services Center for $15 per week.
*You will need to buy six one-week permits. (You may not purchase one six-week permit, but you can buy the six permits one immediately after the other.)
*These are electronic permits based on your license plate, there is nothing to print out. *Enter your license plate correctly (do not guess).
*Park in the residential section of the Millett West Parking lot shown in yellow in the upper right corner of this online Miami parking map.
*Do not park in the section with signs saying “Commuter permits only” since this section does not allow overnight parking.
*These student yellow permits allow parking throughout campus after 6 pm weekdays and all day on weekends but your vehicle must be back in the Millett West lot by 7 am on weekdays or risk being cited.

Winter Break 2023-24 Parking Guide
Parking Permits Required
A permit is required to park in a University parking lot or on a University drive at all times. Fall parking permits are valid through the first day of spring semester, and spring semester parking permits are on sale and are valid Dec 10 to May 15.
For Winter Break and Winter Term (Dec 15 at 7 am to Jan 29th at 7 am): Cars with yellow permits may park in red-permitted lots and roadways, provided that the signs do not say “Red permits only at all times” (ie the Hepburn and Roudebush lots).
Leaving your car in Oxford over winter break?
Student vehicles with a valid parking permit (blue or yellow) may leave their cars in the west Millett, Ditmer or Chestnut Fields lots over the winter break and J-term. When parking in these lots, do not park where signs indicate “No overnight parking”.
Please consult the parking map or call the Campus Services Center if you are unsure of where to park over break.
Garage vehicle storage also available over winter
If you wish to leave your car in a covered garage for Winter Break & Winter Term, spaces will be available in the North parking garage (by the Engineering Building) for vehicle storage. If you already have a garage permit you do not need to purchase this additional access. If you do not have a garage permit you may purchase this option with or without a yellow permit. This option costs $160 for the winter break/term. Please call, email or stop by the Campus Services Center to have this access added to your ID card.
Loading and Unloading: How to use the vehicle log-in policy for move out.
If you need to pull up in front of your residence hall at a time when you ordinarily would not be allowed to park there, you may utilize the log-in policy below to load or unload your vehicle to avoid being cited. A valid permit is required to utilize the log-in procedure. Vehicles parked illegally in restricted areas, service drives, yellow zones and loading zones may be cited.
To use the log-in policy, call 513-529-2224 or email parking@miamioh.edu with your name and the location where your vehicle will be parked. You will be granted 20 minutes to load/unload your vehicle from the time you leave a message with the Campus Services Center. If you receive a parking violation during the time you are logged in, contact the Campus Services Center with the ticket number and we will waive it. Students may use this procedure up to 4 times per semester
Oxford prohibits parking on city streets for more than 72 consecutive hours.
Oxford city ordinances prohibit parking on city streets for more than 72 consecutive hours(including streets that pass through campus such as Oak St., Maple St., Patterson Ave., and Tallawanda Rd.). Many Oxford streets are also designated as snow routes where parking is prohibited when snowfall reaches 3 inches or greater. Advise your off-campus friends that they may wish to purchase a parking permit and store their vehicle in west Millett, Ditmer or Chestnut Fields lots over the winter break to avoid fines, immobilization or towing for being parked over 72 hours on a city street
Information about parking in Oxford is available on the city’s Website at: cityofoxford.org/.
BCRTA Transit Service
BCRTA Regional Route R3 will run every two hours from November 26th to January 28th. BCRTA Regional Routes R1, R3 and R4 will NOT operate Christmas Day, but will resume Wednesday, December 27th.
Limited bus service will be available on campus during the winter term, Jan 2 – Jan 28 including the U1W route to Walmart, Kroger & Campus and the P2 Route throughout campus & the perimeter parking lots. See BCRTA’s website at ButlerCountyRTA.com/or call (513) 785-5237 for details.
Have a safe and enjoyable winter break!

Bringing a car back to Miami after Thanksgiving?
The parking reminder email below was sent to students living on campus who do not currently have a parking permit for fall 2023.
Dear Resident,
Occasionally students who did not already have a car on campus return with one after Thanksgiving break for the remainder of the fall semester. If you are planning to do this, here’s what you need to know:
*A parking permit is required to park on campus at all times.
*You may purchase two one-week permits online for $15 each. Log in to your student parking account, add your license plate & vehicle info, click “buy permits” and scroll down to “Temporary (daily, weekly) permits”. Purchase a one-week for 11/26-12/2 and then purchase the second week 12/3-12/9. (A permit is not required during finals week.) MiamiOH.edu/parking/portal
*These are yellow, residential student permits that will allow parking in the West Millett parking lot 24 hours a day.
*Avoid the Commuter Permits section of Millett lot because it does not allow overnight parking. Review the map in the parking blog to ensure you park in the correct section of the lot.
*The U4 bus visits this lot every 15 minutes so you can catch a ride to and from the lot.
In the evenings and on weekends permitted vehicles may park in the campus core near the residence halls, Rec Center, etc., but you must move your car to Millett West lot by 7 am weekdays or you may get a $75 ticket. See the posted signs around campus for the times those lots allow yellow permit parking.
*If you have a parking permit and need to pull up in front of your dorm to load or unload your car, call or email the Parking Office first and let us know your name, dorm, license plate and time you will be parked there. We will log it into the system and give you 20 minutes to load or unload. If you receive a ticket during that time, let us know, and we will waive it. Contact info below.
Have a great Thanksgiving!

2023-2024 Student Parking Permits
Student parking permits for 2023-24 are on sale now on the Miami Parking website for eligible students.
First year students are not eligible to have a car at Miami unless their home address is more than 200 miles from Oxford, Ohio.
Upper-class students living on-campus or commuting from a parent’s home are eligible to use the link above to log in to their account in the parking portal and purchase their Fall or Fall/Spring permit.
Upper-class students residing off-campus in the Oxford area are eligible to use the BCRTA shuttle bus service, ride a bike, walk, buy one-day commuter permits or park hourly in the Miami parking garages. Some exceptions can be granted for upper-class students to purchase a one- or two-semester yellow residential parking permit, however a 2022 survey of off-campus students with permits indicated that almost half of them ended up not using them due to the other options available. Students wishing to submit a request for special permission for a parking permit may submit a request here.
Please review the Student Parking Details webpage here for information about parking permits and parking on campus.
