Just like our ancestors, many Myaamia people want to wear ribbonwork during important occasions. This regalia, created by Larry Daylight, belongs to Donya Williams, Secretary/Treasurer for the Miami Tribe Business Committee. Donya wears the regalia for important community events, including the annual Miami Nation Pow Wow. Ribbonwork is a time-intensive artform and one way to speed up the process is to use a sewing machine. You may notice that ribbonwork created with a sewing machine, like this piece, is a bit flatter than hand stitched pieces.
