Mark Raymond Harrington took these two pages of notes when purchasing cultural objects from our community in 1910. If you look at entry 1926 D on the first page, you will see that Ciinkweensa ‘William Peconga’ sold “1 pair of ribbonwork moccasin tops” as a part of a lot of four objects for $12.00. If you look at entries 1934 B & C, you’ll see that Susan Pimyotamah Pope sold “women’s robe, broach and ribbonwork” and “women’s skirt robe [wrap skirt], ribbon work and broaches” as a part of a lot of eleven objects for $244. Harrington purchased these objects on behalf of the collector George Gustav Heye, whose substantial collection now forms the core of the National Museum of the American Indian.
