Museums and Society (MuSo) at Miami University

Minor offered through the Miami University College of Creative Arts

Welcome to the blog site for students minoring in Museums and Society and for those who might be interested in adding this program as a minor. This site was created by Maddie Beal (’24) as a final Museums and Society interactive independent study project. The site is co-hosted by Sherri Krazl at the Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum (RCCAM). Each semester the blog is managed by a student in the minor. Reach out to Sherri if you are interested in serving in this role with the opportunity for independent study credit.

Did you know? Miami University in Oxford, Ohio has five museums/galleries/collections units spanning geology, botany, history, culture, art, natural history and local/regional/Oxford/Miami history. These collecting units are responsible for managing and presenting thousands and thousands of objects. ALL of these collecting units share one common goal of supporting the Miami University core mission of top notch education. These units are all structured with student research and engagement with the collections in mind. To best facilitate this joint shared mission and vision the Museums Miami Center was formed. Museums Miami and the Museums and Society Minor go hand in hand. Students interested in Museums and Society for personal enjoyment, study or potential careers should connect with the program advisor, Stephanie Danker to learn more about adding the minor to your studies and also connect with Museums Miami online or by visiting, connecting and engaging with any of the Museums Miami partners.
