As March comes to a close, we wanted to remind you about the PRIDE Awards that Miami University uses to recognize exceptional staff members.
PRIDE Awards (which stands for Performance Resulting in Distinguished Excellence) have been an integral part of the University’s staff recognition program for several years. These are given out for noteworthy, high-impact contributions. But what exactly does that mean?
A full list of qualifying events is laid out on the Miami site, but in general, if someone is working on a special project, working on professional development not covered by job enrichment programs, developing new ideas intent on improving business outcomes, or providing exceptional service/outstanding performance–these are all worthy of PRIDE Award nomination.
PRIDE Awards come with, well, pride–but there is also a monetary incentive involved. The number of awards and amount of money given out varies based on the quality and quantity of nominations are received, but usually the awards are significant–i.e., $250 and up.
PRIDE Awards are given out on a rolling basis, so there are no hard deadlines for submitting nominations. However, if you want your PRIDE award to go through in Fiscal Year 2018, you need to submit nominations by April 30, 2018.
In general: If you see something PRIDE-worthy, nominate away! Use this Google form to send in a nomination for your teammate.
While I have you: Don’t forget about CHIPS, either! We all work hard here in IT, and we all deserve recognition. A few weeks ago, we handed out your chips for the year. In previous years, the idea was that once per quarter, you could give out a chip to someone you think is doing a good job in IT Services. Now, however, you get four chips–and you can use them whenever and however you like!
