CLIENT | Aise Zulal Sevkli, Ph.D. |
VISION | Dr. Sevkli wanted an application that formed optimal groups based on the specification of the course instructor. The application should have three functions: Cluster students into similar groups, balance groups based on the average grade of the students in that group, and form aggregate groups via the student’s choice for the class projects. |
MISSION | The project set out to use Canvas integration to solve this particular problem. There were immediate concerns of storing sensitive student data on a database, so the group opted to pull & push data directly to Canvas. This meant the data was collected from Canvas, manipulated using the specified method of either Cluster, Balance, or Aggregation, and the new groups were pushed directly to Canvas. This meant the process of forming groups was streamlined and interacted directly with Canvas, thus cutting out the extra work for the course instructor. |
