How did you reach your current position?

Everything in my career is based on the foundation set during my time at Miami. After graduation, I started my career by working for Deloitte’s tax practice in Washington, D.C. From there, I joined the U.S. Treasury Department to work on implementing financial reform in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. These experiences helped me to get into Duke for my MBA. I then began a global career path in the financial services industry. I spent a few years in Hong Kong as a portfolio manager before moving to Chicago to lead Morningstar’s Fixed Income Index product line.

How did Miami University set you up for success in your career?

Miami’s strong academic foundation and focus on study abroad set me up for success in our global society. I chose to study abroad in China through a Farmer School of Business program. This transformation experience unlocked my interest in the Asia region and led me to embark on a global career path.

What is your best piece of career advice for current college students?

The greatest investment you can make in your academic and professional career is the relationships you build with people along the way.
