How did you reach your current position?

Since graduating from Miami, I’ve been very fortunate to work on several challenging assignments with Textron. My career started with a two-year leadership development rotational program where I worked in four different Textron business units. After completing this program, I held various technical and business roles within the company, spanning across manufacturing, supply chain, and customer service. Currently, I lead an organization of about 7,000 people and am responsible for all manufacturing at Textron Aviation.

How did Miami University set you up for success in your career?

My Miami education provided me with knowledge across many subjects that I found to be pertinent and practically applied in my industry. However, Miami does more than just provide learning in the classroom. The whole Miami experience offers a unique environment for developing students to be mature, well-rounded, and incredibly prepared for the future. Miami teaches students how to challenge themselves, collaborate with other people, understand one’s own potential, and aspire to be the best version of themselves.

What is your best piece of career advice for current college students?

Don’t spend too much energy planning for the specific roles you would like to hold in your career. It’s nearly impossible to predict your future at this level of specificity. Instead, continuously challenge yourself. Learn something new every day. Seek passion in what you’re doing. Build relationships. Opportunities will arise if your career path is centered upon these goals.
