Esta página documenta las investigaciones de una clase, “Estudios en la Historia del Medio-Oeste (HST 450),” dirigido por Lic. Andrew Offenburger de Miami University.

Los estudiantes de esta clase se van a embarcar en una investigación grupal y colaborativa sobre la historia de Storm Lake, Iowa, un pueblo de 12,000 habitantes ubicado en el noroeste de ese estado, un lugar influenciado por la industria agrícola, la inmigración, y el sueño americano.

Vamos a analizar muchas fuentes históricas, incluyendo periódicos como el Storm Lake Times y el Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune, así como también libros y entrevistas de historia oral. Por este motivo estamos ansiosos de poder trabajar con los residentes de Storm Lake.

This website documents the ongoing work of a class, “Researching Midwestern History (HST 450),” led by Dr. Andrew Offenburger at Miami University.

Students in this class will embark upon a group research project investigating the history of Storm Lake, Iowa, a town of nearly 12,000 residents in northwest Iowa heavily influenced by industrial agriculture, immigration, and the American dream.

We will be analyzing many historical sources, including archives from the Storm Lake Times and the Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune, published books, and oral history interviews. With this in mind, we are eager to work with any and all Storm Lake residents.

This class is supported by the Department of History and “Humanities Works 3.0,” a collaboration between the Center for Career Exploration & Success, the Humanities Center, and the College of Arts & Science at Miami University.
