| World Hijab Day “Stand For Her Right to Cover” encourages women to foster global religious tolerance and understanding through Hijab awareness and information
Many Muslim women experience discrimination simply because they choose to wear the Hijab.
This event strives to improve cultural competency by fostering students understand and knowledge around Muslim women their right to wear a Hijab and their freedom to practice their faith.
These women are not oppressed or forced to wear the Hijab, but simply choose to do so.
We will host an information table in the Armstrong Center, Slant Walk, 1-4pm.
Resources on the Muslim faith and traditions will be present at the table. There will be an opportunity for individuals to try on a Hijab to experience the traditon of head covering.
During the evening on February 1, 2017, 6:30pm., MacMillan Hall 212, we will host a panel discussion focused on the wearing of the Hijab and cultural traditions that exist within the Muslim faith.
This event is open to the public, families, children and friends of the Miami community. |
