With all the buzz around Facebook and fake news sites, my favorite blogger, Josh Bernoff, posted some interesting information today. While much of his post was a rant against FB’s apparent inability to “fix” this, he also gave some useful sources for information on what to watch for when trying to determine if a site is legit or not.
One of the best and most user-friendly is a Goggle doc shared by Melissa Zimdars as part of a course she was teaching. Zimdars is an assistant professor of communication & media at Merrimac College and created a list of sites that may be guilty of posting fake news. I particularly like her tips for analyzing news sources.
