Hello and Happy New Year, folks!
New Year, new IT Services Diversity Committee events. We have a good lineup of celebrations and learning opportunities planned for this year, and we’re kicking it off at the end of January with our first-ever Green Zone Training.
Green Zone Training is geared toward helping make Miami a more knowledgeable and supportive environment for military-affiliated students. This is similar to Safe Zone Training in that it seeks to educate about a specific group of people and how their coworkers and peers can best support them.
The training will be provided by Emma Wott, the current president of Miami’s Student Veteran Association.
Here are the details:
-
When: January 25, 2019 | 12:00-1:30 pm
-
Where: Boyd 107
The training takes roughly an hour and a half, but there will also be time afterward for discussion for those who wish to participate.
We hope to see everyone there! Let’s take this opportunity to thank the student veterans for their service and strengthen our role as supporters during their time at Miami.
More information about our events and mission is available on the IT Services Diversity Committee website. A 2016 article written by UCM about the Student Veteran Association is helpful and informative, as well.
