| VISION | The vision for Parakeet is to create a high-quality, athlete-centric networking platform that empowers athletes, recruiters, and sports organizations. The platform’s purpose is to empower athletes by giving them a space where their performance, achievements, and personal brand can be recognized by the right people, while also eliminating the inefficiencies found in the current recruiting and sponsorship process (cold emails and links to YouTube highlight reels). Parakeet achieves this by combining RAG-powered semantic search with a social networking platform to improve athlete discovery, evaluation, and connection. The platform utilizes an AI chatbot that understands natural language queries (e.g., “Find tall basketball players from Miami”) to enable meaning-based discovery beyond keyword matching, while athletes maintain rich profiles with statistics, achievements, and posts that showcase their brand. The real-time, searchable platform gives athletes control over their presentation. It enables sponsors and recruiters to find and evaluate talent efficiently, eliminating traditional, archaic recruiting conventions and empowering athletes to connect with the right opportunities quickly. |

| MISSION | Parakeet’s mission is to build an athlete networking platform that uses RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and AI to enable semantic, meaning-based search of athletes. The project uses an AI chatbot with natural language processing so sponsors and recruiters can search in plain language (e.g., “Find tall basketball players from Miami”) instead of keyword matching. The platform combines Firebase real-time infrastructure with Redux state management to deliver a responsive social networking experience where athletes maintain rich, self-managed profiles showcasing their performance, achievements, and personal brand. By prioritizing semantic search over traditional keyword matching and giving athletes control over their profiles, the project aims to make discovery faster and more accurate, replace the traditional recruiting methods, and help athletes connect with the right opportunities. |
