Interning at the Miami University Art Museum for the past semester and a half has been a great experience that has given me new and useful insights into what it truly entails to work at a museum, as well as what goes into the marketing of an exhibition, and planning of events.
I worked as the Arts Management intern my first semester, and then transitioned into the position of marketing intern my second semester. During these past two semesters that I have spent working at MUAM I have had the opportunity to write for and run this blog, while also working on the various social media platforms managed by the museum. Not only have I been able to improve my writing skills and understanding of art on a general overall level, I have also gained a new understanding of how to properly manage and organize the different aspects of marketing and planning of an exhibition. I have had the opportunity to work directly with the marketing coordinator of the museum to learn from, and bounce ideas off of her, allowing me to directly aid in the planning of many of the marketing projects for the museum.
