Cities and organizations established war funds to help support the various service organizations assisting the military. This poster by Nelson Arend effectively captures how this support system worked. Here, the American people (represented by an eagle) hold up the Cleveland War Fund with their contributions, in turn supporting various organizations. It is important to note that posters were produced for more localized audiences, such as Cleveland, and not always universal to the nation. In this printing, The Red Cross, the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), the Knights of Columbus, the Salvation Army, and the Young Women’s Christian Association, War Relief (YWCAWR) are shown together, “All for Victory.”
