About the WCAA
Welcome to the Western College Alumnae Association, the only alumnae association in the United States, perhaps in the world, with no direct parent institution.
The Incorporated Association came into existence in 1974 when Western College closed due to financial difficulties and the campus was purchased by Miami University. A Board of fifteen trustees, elected from the membership to serve three-year terms, administers the business of the Alumnae Association. Since that time, the Association has been VERY lively, and in 2022 celebrated its 48th Anniversary. Including alums of the Western College Program, our membership numbers about 3,300 throughout the United States and the world.
The mission of the Association is two-fold:
To preserve communication within the Western family
To support education and human values.
Communication is preserved through the publication of a semi-annual alumnae magazine, The Bulletin, periodic e-mail newsletter, annual club meetings across the U.S. and an all-class Alumnae Weekend on the Western Campus each June.
Education and human values are supported in many ways. Since its inception, the Association has awarded over $11,000,000 in scholarships, endowed a Western College Professorship, a Faculty Lecture Series, a Young Artist Concert Series, a teaching award and learning centers on the Western campus.
