Club Sports Weekly Update 04/09-04/015

Baseball: Lost to Ohio State

Men’s Ultimate: Came in 6th place in Sectionals

Miami Skating: Finished 4th at Intercollegiate Nationals

Rowing: Home regatta at Hueston Woods. Hosted 8 teams.

Broomball: Finished 3rd at Nationals after losing in the semifinals

Quidditch: Attended Quidich National Tournament. Made it to sweet 16.

Women’s Volleyball: Won Silver Bracket in Division 1AAA of National Tournament.

Tennis: Completed in USTA Tennis on Campus Nationals. Placed 4th in the copper bracket.

Running: Went to NIRCA Track and Field Nationals, Robby Alexander claimed All-American for 4th place in the 5K.

Men’s volleyball: Completed in National Club Volleyball Tournament. Finished with a 7-1 record, placed 3rd in the country.

Club Sports Update 04/02/18-04/02/18

BOXING – WE HAVE A NATIONAL CHAMP!!!!! Adan Salguero won the tournament at 139lbs and won Outstanding Boxer of the tournament. 4 of the 5 boxers were All-American winners. Jake Isele lost in the quarterfinals, Harold Rogers lost in the semi-finals, Parker Brown & Ryan Adelson lost in the finals. The team took 3rd place in the whole tournament.

Dance Team – Placed 5th in the Nation in Team Performance 1A at NDA Nationals!

Women’s Ultimate Frisbee – Came in 2nd at their home tournament

Women’s Water Polo – Played four games in St. Louis, playing well against GVSU, ND, LU, and lost a close game with ISU in overtime.

Men’s Lacrosse – Played two games at UK and beat Xavier 12-5, and lost to Kentucky 6-4.

Equestrian – Dressage Team qualified for Nationals and are Champions of the Region! Hunt Seat Zones had Haley Hacala place 6th, Alissa Martin place 5th, and Kelly O’Bryan place 3rd.

Broomball – Unrestricted went 3-0-1 in their home Nationals Show Case. Later games in the weekend in Cinci – Co-Ed won 3-2, and Unrestricted won 3-1 in their semi-final game.

Swimming – Went to nationals and was in the top 60 of 120 teams, and broke 17 team records (including a team record sweep of all 10 relays).

Rugby – Got 3rd place in the St. Louis Ruggerfest.

Club Sports Weekly Update 02/05-02/11

Women’s D1 Hockey.  Beat ASU 4-0and 10-1

Table Tennis: Regional tournament in Toledo Finished 5th overall

Men’s volleyball competed at Xavier University for a conference playdate.

Roller Hockey Beat Ohio State6-3 and 7-2 and Michigan 12-6, Lost Akron 7-3.

Equestrian Hunt seat Team got 1st on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday at Otterbein.

Men’s Hockey D2 Beat Lindenwood University 2-1 on Friday and lost 40 on Saturday.

Skating: The Intercollegiate Figure Skating Team placed second overall at the Golden Gopher Challenge in Minnesota.

Update 11/27-12/03

Miami University Club Bowling attended a tournament in Toledo. Kyle Berger finished 15th. The team placed 10th overall.

The Intercollegiate Synchronized Skating Team went to the Dr. Richard Porter Classic in Ann Arbor, MI and placed 5th out of 11 teams!

Women’s D1 Hockey beat Davenport on Saturday 3-2 and Sunday 7-3!

Men’s D2 Hockey beat Toledo 5-2 and 8-5.

Equestrian’s Hunt Seat Team brought selected riders to compete at the National Holiday Tournament of Champions and placed 4th out of 20 teams!

Miami University Women’s Club Basketball traveled to OSU for an overnight tournament. They lost to OSU in a good game. They also played Indiana University’s A and B teams and John Caroll.

Weekly Update 11/20-11/26

Miami University Club Bowling attended the Striking Knights Classic in Louisville, Kentucky. The team finished the highest they’ve ever finished in a tournament and two individual bowlers posted their best scores. Miami Bowling team finished in 9th place. Individually, Kyle Berger finished 15th and Ben Roth finished 23rd.

Miami University Boxing Club had 2 boxers travel to the New York City Athletic Club Show: Ryan Adelson and Adan Salguero. Ryan lost a tough close match against Army. Adan won a good match against Navy.

Weekly Update 11/13-11/19 

Miami University Roller Hockey had a home event. They went 2-1 defeating Ohio State 6-3 and Michigan 12-0. They fell to Akron 7-4. They are first in their conference!

Fencing attended a tournament in the Columbus area. 3 members placed in the top 8 competitors: 3rd place Brandon Yang, 5th place Landon Braemer, and 6th place Nicky Nocerino.

Miami University Club Broomball Team Unrestricted won their league championship with a 3-2 win over the Dayton Bombers. Max Warr (2) and Austin Smart scared, and Mike Dzoba (2) and Seth Wise had the assists.

Miami University Men’s Club Soccer competed in the National Championship Tournament in Phoenix, AZ. The team tied against UNC-Greensboro 1-1, lost a hard fought game to UCLA 3-2, and finished the tournament with a 2-0 win against Cornell.

Men’s Hockey D2 beat Louisville 6-2 on Friday and 7-3 on Saturday.

Women’s Club Volleyball had a tournament at the University of Dayton. They placed 3rd out of 17 teams!

Women’s Hockey D1 lost Friday 3-1 but won on Saturday 3-1 against Lindenwood.

Weekly Update 11/06-11/12 

Men’s Volleyball competed in the Michigan State hardwood invitational. They made it to the semis in the silver bracket.

Men’s Hockey D3 split their two game series against the second ranked University of Michigan-Flint. They lost 5-0 Friday and won 2-1 on Saturday!

Miami University Club Football lost in the conference championship to Coppin State in overtime 22-16 after an amazing season.

Miami University Paintball Club competed in the MICT event at O’Hare Paintball in Chicago. They made it to the quarter finals and played the number one seeded Wisconsin. They lost 2-1. They ended up in 6th place out of 20 teams.

Broomball played in the Mid-Atlantic Broomball Tournament. They won 4-1, 4-1, and 6-0 in pool play. They won 2-1 in semifinals and then lost 1-5 in the championship. Unrestricted won league semi-finals 5-0.

The Intercollegiate Ice Skating Team finished 2nd at the Bronco Challenge Cup in Kalamazoo, MI. They finished with 78 points in total.

Men’s Hockey D2 played Akron and won 19-0 on Friday and 10-2 on Saturday.

Rowing competed in Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, TN. Women’s 4+ took silver in the Women’s College & Club 4+. John Misey took bronze in the Men’s Novice Novice 1x.

Boxing had 3 boxers compete at Lock Haven University’s Fall Brawl. Adan Salguero won his bout, Jack Cross lost by a close split decision, and Josh Schmitt had a tough match and lost.

Running attended the NIRCA cross country nationals in East Lansing, MI. They had 3 people place in the top 30 in the championship race, earning second team All-American: Ally Palmer (25th place women’s race), Robby Alexander (25th place men’s race), and Andrew Wallace (27th place men’s race).

Weekly Update 10/30-11/05

Here’s your weekly Club Sports report!

Dodgeball had the first fall Miami Dodgeball Invitational. Miami was ranked 32nd nationally and was expected to lose all three of their games. In a huge upset, Miami defeated all three of their opponents. Miami is hoping to carry this momentum to the Ohio University Invitational and break into the top twenty nationally for the first time in school history.

Miami University Women’s Rugby Football Club (MUWRFC) played in a home game for the league tournament. They won their game to receive 5th place. The score was 33-29.

Miami University Club Broomball Team Coed lost 2-3. Mar Warr and Curran Persinger scored. Unrestricted won 4-2 against the Dayton Bombers to take first in their league for playoffs. Curran Persinger (2), Mike Dzoba (1), and Austin Smart (1) scored.

Miami University Roller Hockey had their second regular season tournament. They went 2-1, defeating Michigan Tech 5-1 and DePaul 11-0, and fell to GVSU 5-2.

Equestrian had their Western Home Show.

Miami Gymnastics participated in the Virginia Tech Hokie Classic meet. Men’s and Women’s teams competed against 16 other teams. Out of 26 members who attended and competed, (18 female and 6 male), 10 were new members. Congrats to Anna Taylor, Brooklyn Smith, Caitlin Coode, Camryn Myers, Grace Mignery, Jasmine Male, Julia Dodds, Lindsay Rasizer, Susie Laane, and Christian Carey on their first meet with Miami Gymnastics. Evelyn Jackson placed 5th in Women’s All-Around and 3rd on Vault. Brian Spinello placed 2nd on Parallel Bars.

Men’s Hockey D3 fell to Central Michigan University last weekend and is 2-2 for the year.

Men’s Hockey D2 beat Xavier 5-0 on Friday and 4-2 on Saturday.

Tennis got 5th place at the Badger Tournament. This was out of 32 of the top teams in and around the Midwest. They beat 5 teams, including Michigan State, Northwestern, and Marquette.

Table Tennis had a tournament in Columbus. They beat Oberlin 4-0 and lost to Toledo B 2-3.

Miami OH Ultimate Frisbee went 4-3 with wins against Wright State, Kentucky’s B Team, Xavier, and OWU.

Miami University Club Softball finished their fall season with a series sweep against EKU with a 10-0 win the first game, 9-8 win for the second, and a 16-1 win to finish it.

Miami University Club Football won against Ohio State 39-16 to win their division!

Club Sports Update 10/23-10/29

Here our weekly update!

Beach Volleyball competed this weekend. Ryan VonSchlobohm and his partner won their division, edging out Lucas Kulesza and his partner.

Women’s Soccer had regionals in Madison, Wisconsin this weekend. They tied OSU 1-1 and IU 0-0.

Men’s Rugby lost to Louisville 28-0.

Miami University Club Broomball Team coed lost and unrestricted improved their record to 5-0 with a solid 5-0 win against the Widowmakers. Curran Persinger and Max Warr scored 2, and Austin Smart had 1.

Men’s D2 Hockey played at the University of Pittsburgh. On Friday, they won 6-1 and 6-0 on Saturday.

Miami University Men’s Club Soccer had regionals this weekend in Indianapolis. They tied one game 3-3 and lost a hard fought game 1-0.

Swim Team hosted their annual fall invitational. Six other teams attended. The boys finished second overall and the girls won!! Their combined finish as a team was second. A few team records were set. More than half of the team has achieved national qualifying times in at least one event!

Miami University Club Football travelled to Pittsburgh and defeated the Panthers 25-0.

Running attended NIRCA Great Lakes Regionals in Shelbyville, Indiana on Saturday. Men came in 4th in the 8K with two top-10 finishers (Robby Alexander and Andrew Wallace). Women came in 5th in the 6K.

Women’s D1 Hockey won 5-0 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday against Robert Morris.

Baseball beat Ball State 9-1 and 22-7.

Miami University Quidditch placed 2nd at Regionals and qualified for Nationals. They also had a huge win against Ohio State!

Weekly Update 10/16-10/22

Sailing competed in Annapolis, Maryland and finished mid-fleet.

Miami University Men’s Rugby Football Club Alumni Association had a home match against OU and lost 26-15.

Miami University Women’s Club Basketball went 2-1 at their home tournament. They fell to OU, but beat Cincinnati in overtime and NKU.

Miami University Waterski Team took their second consecutive D2 national championship in Zachary, Louisiana last weekend.

Women’s Volleyball had an away tournament at U of I in Champagne, Illinois. After going 3-0 in pool play against Northwestern, Illinois B, and Loyola B, they fell in the semifinals to Illinois A. They came in 3rd overall in the tournament.

Miami University Club Broomball Team coed lost 1-4. Nathan Bubash scored the lone goal.

Miami University Roller Hockey went 3-1 defeating Henry Ford College 4-3, Akron 6-3, Western Michigan B 12-3 and falling to Michigan State B 5-1.

Tennis won the Xavier University Challenger this past weekend in Cincinnati. They beat Michigan and OSU in bracket play to take the title!

Women’s D1 Hockey lost 4-0 to MSU on Friday and lost 3-2 in OT on Saturday.

Men’s D2 Hockey lost to the University of Cincinnati on Friday 5-3 and Saturday 4-1.

Swim Team competed at the University of Kentucky Wildcat Invitational. They placed 3rd out of 7 and were beaten only by the host team and the reigning national champions. Many swimmers achieved National Qualifying Times.

Women’s Soccer lost to OSU 2-0.

Miami University Men’s Club Soccer defeated Dayton 2-0 to complete their regular season with a record of 8-2. They will be traveling to Indianapolis for regionals next weekend as a result of their solid season.

Miami University Rowing Club raced at Head of the Charles in Boston this weekend. Miami’s Women’s Four was in the top 50% of their race, beating more than 27 boats.

Men’s Water Polo had their conference at OSU. They went 1-2, losing to Notre Dame 11-7 and Illinois State 4-2. They won against OSU B 4-3.

Boxing competed in the Cincinnati Athletic Club Fight Night. New members Jack Cross and Jake Isele won their bouts.

Miami University Club Football had a big upset win against #3 Ohio State in Columbus 19-18.

Men’s Volleyball tied for 3rd in OSU tournament this weekend.

Baseball swept Indiana University in a 3 game series winning 10-0 in game 2.

Miami University Team Handball Club had a home tournament this past weekend. They finished 2-1-1, beating UC and OSU, tying Columbus Armada, and losing to Auburn.

Miami University Club Softball lost the first two against UK, but fought back to come out on top for the third to avoid a series sweep.

Weekly Update 10/09-10/15

Club Sports Weekly Update!

Miami University Club Broomball Team Coed lost 0-3 against the top team in the league. Will Dausman played very well in the net. Unrestricted extended their winning streak to 4 games this year by beating the Ice Sharks 5-0. Max Warr scored 1 goal and 2 assists, Ted Price had 2 goals, Mike Dzoba had 2 goals and 1 assist, Austin Smart had 3 assists, and Kevin Hill had 1 assist. Will Dausman had the shutout in net.

Club Tennis sent an A and B team to the University of Dayton for their Fall Brawl. The A team lost in the semifinals to Dayton, but the B team won the silver bracket.

Miami University Club Football had a great conference win against Wright State, 22-3.

Men’s Club Volleyball competed in a Dayton tournament and finished tied for 3rd.

Miami University Men’s Club Soccer lost a hard fought game against Ohio State by a score of 1-0.

Women’s Ultimate Frisbee came in 6th place at a tournament hosted by UC.

Roller Hockey went undefeated 3-0 this weekend in their preseason tournament. Game 1 vs. Western Michigan D1 was 7-6 in overtime, Game 2 vs. Eastern Michigan D1 was 10-4, Game 3 vs. Grand Valley State D3 (B) was 7-0.

Dodgeball took their first team win this season against DePaul in overtime.

Miami University Rowing Club Men’s Novice 8 got 1st, Women’s Open 4 got 3rd, Men’s Open 4 got 4th, Women’s Varsity 8 got 5th, Women’s Novice 8 got 7th at Head of the Rock in Illinois. At Head of the Cuyahoga in Cleveland, Men’s Varsity 4 got 3rd, Women’s Varsity 8 got 4th, Men’s Varsity 8 got 4th, and Women’s varsity 4 got 9th.

Quidditch played in a tournament in Muncie, Indiana. They beat Southern Illinois, Grand Valley, Illinois State, Bowling Green, and Ball State. They had a 5-1 record and got 3rd place out of 18 teams.

Weekly Update 10/02-10/08

Here’s our weekly Club Sports update!

Men’s D2 Hockey played away against Ohio State and won 5-2. They played them again the next night and won 4-2.

Men’s D3 Hockey played on Friday against Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne at Goggin. They won 9-6 in their home opener. They also won 6-5 in overtime.

Miami University Club Broomball TeamTeam unrestricted beat a very good Dayton Bombers team 4-2 behind 2 goals and 2 assists from Mike Dzoba, 2 goals and 1 assist from Max Warr, and 3 assists from Austin Smart. Their current record is 3-0-0 this year and 29-1-1 from their last 31 games going back to last year.

Miami University Paintball Club played in the first MWGL AA event at lvl up paintball. They made it to the semi-finals and lost to Akron in a very competitive game. They took third place overall.

Miami OH Ultimate Frisbee  Men’s team finished 7th this weekend at Ohio State’s tournament, Fall Brawl. They beat Ohio State’s b-team, Ohio Wesleyan, and Kenyon. They lost to Ohio State’s “x” and “y” teams as well as Petey’s Pirates and Dayton.

Miami University Men’s Club Soccer had a massive win on Wednesday night against the University of Cincinnati. They won 2-0, putting them in a great position to finish the season strongly.

Miami University Women’s Club Lacrosse went to Notre Dame on Saturday for their Fall Ball tournament. They left undefeated, beating all three teams: Wisconsin, Indiana, and Notre Dame.

Women’s D1 Hockey beat Penn State 9-0 on Friday and 6-0 on Saturday.

Weekly Update: 9/25-10/01

Miami University Rugby Football Club Men’s team lost to UC 31-26 in the last minute of the match.

Miami University Waterski Team took 4th at regionals this weekend!

Beach Volleyball competed at a tournament in Cincinnati. Tom Vennemeyer and Ryan VonSchlobohm won their division.

Miami University Club Broomball Team Co-ed lost 0-2. Unrestricted won by mercy 7-1 against the Widowmakers. Mike Dzoba scored 3 goals and 2 assists, Mar Warr had a goal and 2 assists, Austin Smart also had a goal and 2 assists, Curran Persinger had a goal, and Ted Price added another one with an assist. Zach Sibert and Chris Succop also had assists.

The Equestrian Team’s Hunt Seat Team was Reserve (2nd place) Day 1 of the OSU show and 3rd place Day 2.

Miami University Women’s Club Soccer lost to MSU 1-2 and won against UC 3-0.

Field Hockey had a tournament at OSU this Sunday. They played three games. They won 2 games and tied 1.

Men’s D-2 Hockey played at Bowling Green State University on Fridaynight. They won 7-1.

Club Bowling had a tournament at Purdue University. Rob Horton finished 42nd out of 227 with individual scores of 210-169-184-169-200 for a 934 5-game series. Kyle Berger had a 220 game.

Men’s Golf were Midwest regional runner-ups. Also congratulations to individual champion Paul Difrano and second place individual Mason Schultz.

Miami OH Ultimate Frisbee Men’s team finished seventh in the Wright Wing Conspiracy, a tournament held by Wright State. They finished the weekend with 5 wins and 3 losses.

Miami University Quidditch went to Ohio State for their first official tournament. They played well overall and beat rival Ohio State.

Miami University Club Football played Pitt and had a good showing. They won 36-0.

Club Baseball lost to OU.

Women’s Ultimate Frisbee had a small scrimmage at ONU on Saturday. They played ONU and UT.

Miami University Club Softball lost the first 5-2, won the second 10-9, and won the third 8-7 making Miami win the series against the University of Cincinnati.

Women’s D1 Hockey beat Aquinas 8-1 on Friday and on Saturday beat them 11-0 for their season opener.

Weekly Update: 9/18 – 9/24

Men’s Water Polo played in the Notre Dame tournament this weekend. They won against OSU B and Dayton and lost to Grand Valley and Illinois State.

Miami Beach Volleyball Club travelled to Cincinnati to compete in a sand tournament. Tom Vennemeyer and Ally King went undefeated during their pool play (7-0). Jake Swyers and Caroline Church along with Olliver Miller and Alyssa Kuelthau finished 6-1 in their pools.

Miami University Rugby Football Club played a home match against Dayton. They won 33-25 to start off their season.

The Equestrian Team’s Western Team was the High Point Team for their show this Sunday at OSU.

Miami University Club Broomball Team Coed lost 0-3. Unrestricted won their first game of the year by mercy 6-0 against the Ice Sharks. Ted Price scored 2, Curran Persinger had 2, Mike Dzoba added 1, and Seth Wise scored 1 as well.

Miami University Waterski Team took second place this past weekend at their Conference Tournament.

Club Swimming competed in the Auburn University War Eagle Invitational on Saturday. The boys placed third out of ten and the girls placed fifth out of ten. Their combined score earned them fourth place overall. They had multiple top five/ten finishes and a couple of event wins for the team. Multiple athletes achieved their National Qualifying Times.

Miami University Men’s Club Soccer defeated Wright State 2-1 and Cleveland State 4-1 this past weekend.

Miami University Triathlon Team participated in their final race for the fall – the Boilerman Olympic Triathlon at Purdue University. Leah Grandy placed 3rd for collegiate women and Arden McMath placed 2nd. Andrew Wallace placed 4th for collegiate men.

Club Tennis were runner ups at the University of Cincinnati Queen City Classic. They won their pool against OU, OSU A, and UK B. They then beat Ball State and UC A to make it to the finals. They lost to UK A (18-25) in the finals to bring home a runner-up trophy. Their team was made up of Gabby Verdin, Haley Thoresen, Sammud Sharma, Brett Schubert, Akhil Kanagaraj, Nick Ruth, Ellen Hata, and Nayana Ravishankar.

Miami University Men’s Club Hockey had their first games of the season against Wright State. On Friday, they had an away game and won 8-0. On Saturday, they played them again at home and won 15-0.

Women’s Club Soccer beat the University of Dayton 3-0. They then beat Xavier 7-1 and Wright State 4-0.

The Running Team competed in the MC5 Cross Country Meet at Mounds State Park in Indiana. They placed 3rd in women’s 6k and 2nd in men’s 8k. They 5 medalists in the top 10 (3 men, 2 women).

Miami University Quidditch had an unofficial scrimmage with Dayton. Their A and B teams won their games.
