Artist Statement: Circles have different connotations that are often misunderstood or turned into clichés such as the dream catchers from Native American tribes or Compass Rose from old European maps. Given to newborn children, dream catchers are built to deteriorate and fall apart as the child grows into adulthood when they no longer need the dream catcher to protect them. As someone of European and Native American descent, the combination of these circles to explore the transition from childhood into adulthood is a relationship I wished to explore in this piece.
